Don't Play This Game, You Might Get Fired

I'm going to warn you right now -- you might not want to read this article. Why, you ask? Well, the game I'm about to describe is incredible. In fact, it's the most accessible and gorgeous browser based game I've ever played. But, it's also free and extremely addicting. And, to make matters worse, you can play it for free from the comfort of your office chair without downloading a thing. Continue reading only if you want to put your 9-5 in severe jeopardy.

World Golf Tour is sponsored by Taylor Made and the PGA Tour. So right off the bat, the legitimacy of the product isn't in question. Golf games have been PC staples for years, and have felt natural due to the point, click and swing ability offered by the mouse. So, World Golf Tour's niche isn't in question -- it's a proven commodity. But, how does it match up to the big boys like Tiger Woods from EA? It is a web browser based game, so it's got to be limited...right?

Wrong.

Amazingly, World Tour Golf offers a true photo-realistic online golf experience, rivaling modern console games in its visual prowess. My wife's initial reaction while watching me play was, "that looks real." Believe me when I say all games look the same to her. Something about WGT sticks out, and she noticed it right away -- a browser game that's a true technological marvel.

All for free. No catches. And no, I don't work for the company that makes this thing.

Web 2.0 has now officially hit web browser gaming. WGT seeks to "democratize the game of golf via the web, making golf accessible and affordable for all, and to build an online community based on its engaging, interactive golf experience." And, to top it off, WGT enables multiple players to compete on real world courses with tournament style play.

I can't recommend this one enough. It's free, it's gorgeous, it's easy to play and it's state-of-the-art. I have to wonder how long it'll take for other companies to start using similar technology. I don't expect web browser games to start competing with consoles, but I do expect this site to get banned from work places within a matter of weeks.

It's that impressive.
