I invented the cell phone docking station -- seriously. Or, at least I did in my head. If it ever takes off, which it doubt it ever will, I'll make sure to tell AT&T. I don't have any patents I personally own, but maybe Fox will give me an interview so I can make the world jealous of my closet genius. Such is the life of Patrick Goschy.

Ex-Midway employee Patrick Goschy's YouTube video of him playing Ready 2 Rumble on the Dreamcast has been making the rounds on the intertubes the last few days. However, the CGC was able to snag the video that you really wanted -- Goschy's bizarro world interview on Fox News Chicago.

I feel genuinely bad for this guy, I really do. He clearly believes the patents he developed during his time at Midway have been breached. It's not like he owns the patents though, let's be clear about that -- Midway does. But, watching the video of him demonstrating the technology in '99 is pretty convincing. Beyond the inclusion of some extra wires, it looks eerily similar to the Wiimote that is sitting in your family room right now. So how is this fair?

This might just be a case of too little, too late. It doesn't appear that Goschy plans on filling a suit against Nintendo for the time being. And, the patent attorney interviewed for the story seems convinced that the Wii is using a small part of Goschy's patent -- and not the entire thing. I'm not an attorney, but it does appear there isn't much he can do at this point except play more Ready 2 Rumble.

Regardless, you have to feel this guy's pain. His biggest mistake probably wasn't not suing Nintendo years ago or even failing to get a better patent for his idea. Rather, he should never have worked for Midway in the first place. This guy is clearly smart, and Midway never took advantage of his talents. The flailing Chicago based publisher was willing to put up the funds to have Goschy's patents instituted, but never felt the need to actually use them. Talk about hindsight being 20/20.

If they had used his ideas, they might not have had an abysmal 2007. It was so bad last year that Midway's CFO and VP of Marketing resigned today. Someone, somewhere is kicking themselves. Someone, somewhere decided to not move forward with Goschy's patents and turn them into retail products. How was that not part of the story covered by Fox? It sure seems like a critical part of the puzzle to me. Oh well, I digress.

My heart is still with this dude -- even if he doesn't care for haircuts.

So, the CGC is going to ask for Patrick Goschy to please stand up, please stand up. If you're out there somewhere in Chicagoland, please send us an email. We'd love to give you a chance to speak out without being edited down by Fox News. We can even do a real video interview without kids screaming "Wiiiiiiiiiii!!!!"

By this point, I'm sure you're sick of that. I think Fox gave you about two lines of dialog in that entire piece. We'd love to hear the real story directly from you. Hit us up if you have a chance.
